Teague, Sirk Earn NFF Hampshire Honor Society Membership

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Austin Teague and Thomas Sirk, two former ECU student-athletes, have earned membership into the 2018 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society according to a release from the NFF and College Hall of Fame on Wednesday.
Teague and Sirk were among 1,251 nationally to earn the honor, which has been awarded annually since 2007 for outstanding academic achievement.
Teague, who was a safety on defense and a special teams standout during his Pirate career, played in 25 games and was credited with 28 total tackles. He experienced action in all 12 contests as a senior team captain and logged a personal-best 22 stops, which included a unit-best eight special teams hits. Teague also established a career-high single-game tackle total of seven against Virginia Tech last fall.
An Honor Roll and Dean's List performer in the classroom with a cumulative grade point average of 3.73, Teague graduated from East Carolina University in May, 2017 with a degree in management. He currently holds a 3.74 GPA as a graduate student in ECU's MBA program.
Sirk joined the ECU program as a graduate transfer prior to the 2017 campaign and accounted for 1,655 passing yards and nine scores in seven starts at quarterback. He moved to the tight end position in mid-November and made a combined three receptions for 28 yards in the Pirates' final two games of the season.
After graduating from Duke in May, 2016 with a bachelor's degree in political science, he later earned a master's in liberal studies. While at ECU, Sirk was also a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, presented by Fidelity Investments, which is college football's premier scholar-athlete award.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of players from all divisions of play who have completed their eligibility and maintained a cumulative 3.20 GPA or better throughout their collegiate career.
