Celia Ruiz Tabbed as Unanimous All-Conference Selection

ECU junior Celia Ruiz was unanimously named to the All-American Athletic Conference team, according to an announcement by the league office Thursday afternoon. The selection marks the third consective year Ruiz has received All-Conference honors.

The Pontevedra, Spain native posted a team-best 15-3 record in singles competition, while holding a 6-1 mark against conference opponents. In her three years at ECU, Ruiz has dropped only one conference match. The junior closed the 2018 season with eight-straight wins in singles competition.

Ruiz became the first player in program history to earn an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national ranking last season and has remained in the top-100 this season, currently ranked No. 76 in the ITA DI women's tennis rankings.

In doubles competition Ruiz paired with four different teammates for a combined 12-9 record. When teamed with sophomore Lisa Hofbauer, the duo secured eight victories.
