July 26, 2018 | Men's Golf
Complete Schedule
GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU Head Men's Golf Coach Andrew Sapp revealed the Pirates' schedule for the 2018-19 season Thursday, consisting of 11 regular season events leading up to the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championship.
Â
Sapp, entering his second season at ECU, will send his team into five tournaments during the fall portion of the campaign before competing in six events during the spring in advance of the conference championship (April 21-23) at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla.
Â
"We are excited to get our season started this fall," Sapp said. "We have a very strong schedule and look forward to the tough competition. Since we have a very young team, we scheduled our fall with some tournaments in familiar territory on familiar courses. Our incoming freshmen have played on many of the courses we will compete on this fall which should help in their transition into college golf.
Â
"This schedule will help prepare our players for the postseason competition both at The American Championship as well as NCAAs."
Â
ECU will open the year the same way it has in two of the previous three campaigns at the Rod Myers Invitational (Sept. 8-9) at the Duke Golf Club before making its debut at the Old Town Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 24-25) at the Old Town Golf Club in Winston-Salem two weeks later.
Â
The Pirates will compete in three tournaments in October beginning with the Wolfpack Intercollegiate (Oct. 8-9) at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on the Centennial Campus of North Carolina State University. They finished fifth at the event a year ago after capturing the team title in 2016.
Â
The fall season continues at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate (Oct. 12-14) in Johnson City before wrapping up at the Grandover Collegiate at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro.
Â
The spring season is highlighted by a return trip to Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 17-19) and hosting the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley (March 4-5). Both events follow the spring opening Sea Best Invitational (Feb. 4-5) at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Â
After hosting at Brook Valley, ECU will compete at the General Hackler Championship (March 11-12) in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Irish Creek Intercollegiate (April 6-7) in Kannapolis and Stitch Intercollegiate (April 13-14) at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary to conclude regular season play.
Â
The 2019 NCAA Regional Championships will be held May 13-15 at various sites around the country with the national championships being contested May 24-29 at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
