Things To Look For On ECU Football Gameday's In 2018
August 24, 2018 | Football
GREENVILLE, N.C. – As ECU turns the page to another football season, the athletics department is excited to announce enhanced amenities to the gameday experience for fans in 2018 at Bagwell Field inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. ECU will release stadium, parking and other pertinent construction information early next week when finalized.
1. New Intro Video – This year, the Pirates will hit the field to a new intro video. Inspired by our roots, we hope to see every Pirate on their feet and loud as our student-athletes hit the field.
Â
2. Return of the Foghorn – Foghorns traditionally were a signal of warning on the seas. Expect to hear our foghorn returning to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium as a cue to get loud and make some noise. Additionally, the Foghorn will be sounded at the 40-minute mark on the pregame clock to signal fans that it's time to make their way into Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
Â
3. Stadium DJ – Through our partners at StillLife, a professional DJ will be added to enhance fan engagement and boost the energy in the stadium this season. Expect to hear a modern twist on some classics at various points during the game.
Â
4. SPC Lot DJ – Also through our partners at StillLife, a professional DJ will be added to the Student Pirate Club parking lot to provide entertainment to our loyal members. Expect to see them as you are tailgating and getting ready to root on your Pirates to victory.
Â
5. Boneyard Emcee – Our student section starts the energy that gets our home-field advantage going. This season, we will be adding an emcee in the Boneyard to help coordinate the students and get the noise levels cranked up.
Â
6. Enhanced Cheer, Band and Dance Team Presence – The Marching Pirates, ECU Cheerleading and Dance Teams will each have more opportunities to be featured throughout this season in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Forever an integral part of our culture and atmosphere, we will return to a few older traditions and enhance some existing ones.
Â
7. Enhanced Social Media Coverage – ECU will have more staff than ever before to publish more content across all social media platforms. Some new interactive features will be included this season for fans in the stadium. Like previous years, fans can have their Tweets and Instagram posts displayed on the videoboard by using #ECUGameday or various hashtags relating to the ECU Pirates.
Â
8. Legends Series – Our favorite new piece is our Legend Series. Each game, two of our legends will be back in Greenville and prominently featured by helping lead the Pirate Walk and joining WNCT's Brian Bailey on the sideline for the Quality Collision Sideline Report. Welcome our past greats home and give them a, "Go Pirates!" if you see them.
Â
9. Legends Series Posters – Additionally, Pirate fans can pick up the Legends Series poster(s) each home game with the purchase of the official ECU Gameday program. Cost for the gameday program is $10 (cash only) and can be purchased from the ARMY ROTC Cadets in and around Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
Â
10. Fan Guide – A new digital fan guide that includes everything from where the first aid stations are located to what radio stations carry our games, will be available on ECUPirates.com starting next week.
