November 20, 2019 | Volleyball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Junior right side hitter Bri Wood has been named to the 2019 All-American Athletic Conference Second Team, according to an announcement by the league Wednesday. The regular season accolade is the first of her career.
Â
Wood finished the regular season 10th in the conference in kills per set (3.27) and points per set (3.53) as well as 14th in hitting percentage (.285) and digs per set (2.99). She also tied for second among league players with a team-high 16 double-doubles. Wood tallied 369 total kills, falling just 15 shy of breaking on to the program's single-season top 10 list. She will enter her senior season within reach of becoming the sixth player in school history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs, currently standing at 893 kills and 731 digs.
Â
As one of three Pirates to play in all 113 sets this season as a six-rotation pin hitter, Wood notched double-digit kill totals in 19 matches including a campaign-best 22 in ECU's victory over USC Upstate. She also collected double figures in digs 19 times with a season-high 19 versus SMU. Wood was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll twice (Sept. 3 and Nov. 11).
