OPELIKA, Ala. ā No. 53 ECU posted a three-over par 291 during first round action at the 2019 Auburn Regional and is currently tied for third place after 18 holes of play. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the par-72, 6,371-yard Saugahatchee Country Club.

The Pirates, who are tied with No. 11 Florida State, trail first round leader No. 6 Vanderbilt (287) by four strokes and No. 3 Duke (290) by one shot. No. 42 Tennessee and Maryland round out the Top 5 after rounds of 294 (6-over). ECU's opening round score is the second lowest in program history during a NCAA Regional event following a 283 (round 1) in 2009 (East Regional).

Junior Siranon Shoomee fired an opening round score of 71 (1-under) shooting a 34 on the front nine and a 37 on the back and is currently tied for fourth place. The Sanford, N.C. native recorded six birdies, seven pars and five bogies on the day and her round of 71 is tied for her 13th lowest score by a Pirate in NCAA Regional action.

Fellow classmate Dorthea Forbrigd is tied for 10th after her even-par round of 72, which included a pair of birdies, 14 pars and two bogies. She posted consecutive scores of 36 on the front and back nine with nine-straight pars on the back. Sophomore Kathryn Carson and junior Carley Cox each shot rounds of 74 (2-over) for a share of 20th, while senior Kate Law posted a 5-over 77 and is tied for 62nd.
