AAC Announces Schedule Pairings
June 18, 2019 | Women's Basketball
Greenville, N.C. – The American Athletic Conference announced the women's basketball pairings for the 2019-20 season on Tuesday. All 12 league members will play a 16-game schedule, with each team playing five of its 11 opponents twice and six opponents once each, - three at home and three on the road.
Â
The Pirates' conference schedule features home-and-home series against Houston, Memphis, SMU, Tulsa and Wichita State. ECU played five of those six teams twice during the 2018-19 campaign, with Houston being the only exception.
Â
ECU will travel to take on UCF, USF and Cincinnati after that trio came to Greenville in 2018-19. Â Â The Pirates will host Connecticut, Temple and Tulane for their only regular season meetings. It will be the first time ECU has hosted defending AAC champion UConn since the 2017-18 season, when 3,781 fans (the 10th highest crowd in program history) filled Minges Coliseum.
Â
The Pirates return eight players from the 2018-19 season, including leading scorers Lashonda Monk and Raven Johnson. Monk was named Third-Team All-AAC and set a new conference record in steals as the Pirates went 16-15 overall and 6-10 in the conference. In her first year in charge of the Pirates, head coach Kim McNeill has signed five talented newcomers to round out the roster.
Â
Times, dates and broadcast information for the 2019-20 American Athletic Conference schedule will be release at a later date in addition to the complete ECU schedule.
