
Nearly Two Dozen Student-Athletes Earn Degrees

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Nearly two dozen current and former East Carolina University student-athletes have completed and will receive their degrees during the 112th fall commencement ceremonies this weekend.

The program will be launched on the university's YouTube channel at 10am on December 4.
Â
In total, 22 student-athletes will graduate during the fall 2020 ceremonies, which includes one earning master's degrees.
Â
Among the newest collection of graduates is Tony Parham, who was a guard on the Pirates' basketball team from 1994-98. He re-enrolled earlier this year to complete his bachelor's degree in University Studies with a thematic core of educational services and human behavior. Parham played three seasons for current ECU head coach Joe Dooley.

Melanie Stiles, a senior on the women's soccer team, is the lone member of the group to receive a postgraduate degree this weekend, completing the requirements for an MBA (Master of Business Administration).

The list of degree programs earned by student-athletes this semester varies with Pirates earning diplomas in business administration, communication, construction management, economics, finance, health fitness and public health studies and several other areas of study.
