
Trio Of Pirates Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. – East Carolina track and field student-athletes Mya Muse, Brooke Stith and Mackenzie Whitaker have been named to the 2019-20 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Division I All-Academic Team, according to a release by the organization Thursday. Stith earned the distinction for the third-straight year.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and finished the indoor regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. A total of 659 women and 452 men earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors in 2019-20.

Additionally, the Pirate women garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition for the fourth consecutive season after producing a 3.43 cumulative GPA during the 2019-20 school year. A total of 264 Division I women's teams were honored by the organization.

On the track, Stith and Whitaker won the American Athletic Conference triple jump and pentathlon titles. Stith produced a school-record mark of 12.82 meters in the triple jump while Whitaker turned in a school and meet-record total of 3,954 points to capture top honors in the pentathlon.
