
Men's Golf Ready For The Battle At Briar's Creek

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina men's golf returns to action Monday, Sept. 20, with the Battle at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, S.C. The two-day, 54-hole event, which runs from Monday-Tuesday will be played on the par-72, 7,175-yard course with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start as the participants will play 36 continuous holes on day one before wrapping up with 18 holes on Tuesday.
East Carolina is joined in the 14-team field by host College of Charleston, along with Campbell, Charleston Southern, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Jacksonville, James Madison, Maryland, Memphis, UNCW, Virginia Tech and Winthrop.
Pirate golfers are paired with players from Charleston Southern and James Madison for Monday's two rounds. The ECU lineup is led by fifth-year senior Stephen Carroll in the No. 1 position. He's followed by A.J. Beechler, Jake Calamaro, Chris Sperrazza and Nicolas Brown. Jacke Massei will compete as an individual.
"We've had a great week of practice," Pirate head coach Kevin Williams said. "I'm looking forward to seeing our team compete on a great golf course and improve this week."
ECU is coming off an 11th-place finish at the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham this past weekend. Carroll led the Pirates in both the final round and tournament as he posted a 2-over 74 in round three to finish at 4-over 220. Beechler finished at 5-over 221.
