Women's Golf Hosts Ironwood Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's golf team returns home this week to close out regular season play by hosting the 2022 Ironwood Invitational at Ironwood Golf & Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, April 4-5.
The two-day, 54-hole event will include the Pirates along with Augusta, Campbell, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, High Point, James Madison, North Florida, Ohio State, Richmond, South Florida, UNCW and Western Kentucky. Play begins Monday morning at 7:45 a.m. followed by the second round.
East Carolina was successful in its most recent spring appearance at Ironwood, capturing the ECU Easter Invitational last April 3-4 after shooting an 888 (305-291-292) to edge out the College of Charleston by two strokes. The Pirates also competed there during the 2010 NCAA East Regional, just missing the cut to advance to national championships with a 12th-place finish (895).
ECU Head Coach CC Buford will field a lineup consisting of Kathryn Carson, Riley Hamilton, Julie Boysen Hillestad, Oda Sofie Kilsti and Andrea Miralles Llopis, while Caroline Hermes will be playing as an individual.
The Pirates are coming off a seventh-place finish at the Chattanooga Classic last week where they posted a 54-hole score of 27-over-par 891. Carson earned American Athletic Conference Golfer-of-the-Week honors after shooting a season-best 212 (76-67-69) and tying for second place.
