May 15, 2022 | Track & Field
WICHITA, Kan. – East Carolina accomplished many of its goals at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships over the weekend, showing well at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.
Â
The women earned their highest placement since 2018, finishing in fifth place with a total of 75.5 points. The men were seventh, compiling 51 points. Combined, both squads garnered nine all-conference performers.
Â
Wichita State won the men's team title while UCF captured the women's crown.
"We were very excited to see both teams accomplish lots of goals this weekend, Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. "I thought our student-athletes had a lot of confidence and enthusiasm entering the weekend. As a coaching staff, we were very proud of how hard they competed all weekend. Anytime you are setting school records, finishing top three in conference and getting conference champions, that would be considered a successful weekend. Now we need to turn our attention to getting ready for the NCAA East Regional Championships in Bloomington. The ultimate goal is to reach Eugene for the NCAA finals in early June."
