JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The East Carolina track & field team wrapped up its 2023 outdoor track season as nine athletes competed at the NCAA East Preliminary meet. Royal Burris and Melicia Mouzzon advanced to quarterfinals to highlight the Pirates for the week.

Burris made it through to the quarterfinals in both the 100m and 200m by virtue of his third-place heat finishes. In the quarterfinals, he came up just short of nationals with a 24^th- and 17^th-place finishes, respectively.

Mouzzon advanced to the quarterfinals of the 100m but matched Burris with a 17^th-place finish of her own to fall shy of moving on to Austin.

Logan Carroll, Jared Harrell, Jasmine Jenkins, Ansley Frady and Naadiya Faison all finished in the 40s in their respective field events to conclude their seasons.
