Last Time Out
The Pirates dropped a tough one to Rice on Wednesday. The team showed signs of growth as they drew as close as five points in the fourth quarter before coming up short as the Owls used an 8-0 run to open the game back up. Still, there was much more to build upon with Morgan Moseley joining Danae McNeal and MyMy Joyner in double figures while Joyner flirted with a triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Scouting Rice
The Mustangs, despite their 8-9 record and 15-point loss to North Texas in their last contest, are a talented team capable of beating anyone in the American. Tiara Young is still the team's premier scorer with 19.0 points per game while grabbing 5.8 rebounds per game. She's getting plenty of help, though, and much of it comes from Amirah Abdur-Rahim with 10.9 points and a team-leading 6.3 rebounds per game.
Series History
The Pirates and Mustangs have a very close all-time series going back to 2006 with a 15-13 ECU edge over the years. SMU has taken three in a row, though, as a thrilling comeback effort came up just shy in a 68-66 overtime loss for the Pirates last season. Danae McNeal was awesome in that game with 26 points and six assists.
History in the Making
With her one steal on Wednesday, Danae McNeal tied Lydia Rountree ('77-81) and Tonya Hargrove ('88-92), both ECU Hall of Famers for 10th most career steals in program history with 178.
