
Frida Guzman Named AAC Diver Of The Week

IRVING, Texas – East Carolina sophomore Frida Zuniga Guzman has been named the American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week according to an announcement by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Guzman placed first in two diving events against Liberty (Jan. 12-13) posting top scores in the 1-meter dive (284.55) and 3-meter dive (313.58) - both scores were NCAA Zone Diving-qualifying marks. During the event, the Pirates claimed first in all three dives including Flanary Patterson's performance in the platform with a score of 189.15.

"This is a great honor for Frida," head diving coach Ryan McIntire said. "She has worked very hard in the off season, and it is beginning to pay off. We really looking forward to the rest of the season."

The Pirates will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 27 when they travel to Georgia Tech for a dual meet against the Yellow Jackets and Carson-Newman in Atlanta, Ga. starting at 11 a.m. (ET).
