American Athletic Conference Releases 2024-25 Women’s Basketball Slate
October 02, 2024 | Women's Basketball
IRVING, Texas – The East Carolina women's basketball team now knows the when and where of their American Athletic Conference schedule for 2024-25 as the league unveiled its full slate of games Wednesday. The 18 slate features key home battles with rival Charlotte, perennial power South Florida and an enticing road rematch with defending American champ Rice.
Â
After reaching the American title game for the second straight season, the Pirates look to return to the top as they begin their campaign on the road. First, the Pirates head to Tulsa (Dec. 29) before ringing in the new year with the bells of Independence Hall when they face Temple on January 1.
Â
A home stand with Florida Atlantic (Jan. 4) and Tulane (Jan. 11) sets up a quick road trip to Charlotte (Jan. 15) before lifting off to Houston for that awaited date with Rice on January 18.
Â
Home against Temple (Jan. 22) sets up a tilt with South Florida in Minges (Jan. 25) as the Bulls aim to return to their normal form and the Pirates look to show that there is a new force to be respected in the conference. The team concludes a three-game home stand with Wichita State on January 29.
Â
Back out on the road, the Pirates head to the land of the blues with Memphis to kick of February before taking on UAB in The Magic City on the fifth.
Â
One game at home with Tulsa (Feb. 8) abuts one game back out on the road at UTSA (Feb. 12) before the Pirates get a two-game home stand in Minges. A second battle with Charlotte (Feb. 15) provides the setup for a revenge match with North Texas (Feb. 22). Last time those two sides met was one to remember with a 4OT barnburner in Denton last year with too many storylines to count.
Â
The Pirates head out on the road one last time for their Sunshine State swing at Florida Atlantic (Feb. 26) and South Florida (March 1) before heading home to celebrate their seniors as they host UTSA in the regular season finale on March 4 as the madness commences.
Â
And madness it is sure to be in the second week of March as the American Athletic Conference Tournament will be held in its usual home of Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on March 8-12, as the Pirates look to make it three title games in a row and two times hoisting the trophy in three years.
