
Wright Earns FWAA All-America Honors

DALLAS, Texas – East Carolina kick returner Winston Wright Jr. has been named to the Football Writers Association of America All-America Second-Team according to an announcement by the organization Tuesday.

The Savannah, Ga. native becomes the 28th All-America selection program history and is the sixth Pirate to earn FWAA All-America accolades following first-teamers Terry Long (OL/1983), Robert Jones (LB/1991), Andrew Bayes (P/1999), second-team honoree Zay Jones (WR/2016) and second-team selection Ja'Quan McMillian (CB/2021).

Wright Jr. tallied 1,255 all-purpose yards (114.1 per game) for the Pirates in 2024. He registered 91 yards on the ground, 556 receiving yards (third on team), 18 punt returns and 590 kickoff return yards to rank sixth in The American. Wright Jr., a midseason All-America selection by The Sporting News, caught 54 passes, scoring a team-best eight touchdowns. He returned 22 kickoffs, posting a 26.8 average which included a 94-yard scoring return at Charlotte marking his third career return for a score (first at ECU).

The Hula Bowl invitee was also named a Second-Team All-America pick by Action Network and an Honorable Mention All-America selection by College Football Network and Sports Illustrated as a special teamer.
