GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team is set to open American Athletic Conference play at Tulsa at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Pirates handled UNCW to finish out a five-game winning streak entering the holiday break. Amiya Joyner went for 30 points and 16 rebounds while Jayla Hearp contributed 16 points on the day. It was Joyner's second 30-point, 15-rebound outing of the season as she continues a run of impressive play. Despite relinquishing a first-half lead and trailing at the break, it was a dominant second half performance to turn a close affair into a comfortable win.Â
Scouting Tulsa
The Golden Hurricane enter the game with a 6-6 record after dropping a neutral-site contest to No. 18 Tennessee last time out. For the year, it's been a bit of an up-and-down campaign with a four-game skid early in the season measured by a four-game winning streak entering that Tennessee game. As expected, Delanie Crawford has been the individual leader for the team with 17.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.Â
Series History
The Pirates and Golden Hurricane have met 30 times since 1986 with a 16-14 edge for Tulsa. However, it's a 2-0 run for ECU entering this contest, including a barnburner in the AAC Tournament last season, 75-71, in which Danae McNeal went for 29 points and 10 steals as the Pirates stunned the top-seeded Golden Hurricane.Â
Weekly Recognition
Amiya Joyner was named to the AAC weekly Honorable Mention for her 30-point, 16-rebound game against UNCW.Â
Historic Efforts
That UNCW game was remarkably Joyner's second 30/15 game of the season. Prior to this season ECU had not had a single such game since Courtney Willis had 40 and 21 on Feb. 13, 2004 in a 4OT loss to TCU and none in regulation since Jennifer Jackson had 31 and 17 on Feb. 2, 2003. In all of 2023-24, there were only two such games in the American Athletic Conference (Tiara Young and Elyssa Coleman).Â
