
Guzman Named Most Outstanding Diver

IRVING, Texas – The East Carolina women's swimming and diving team finished fourth in the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championships posting a final point tally of 446. Florida International (778.5 points) claimed the team title followed by SMU (666) and Rice (593) rounding out the top three.
ECU sophomore Frida Zuniga Guzman was named Most Outstanding Diver of the championships after winning the 3-meter dive with a conference and school record score of 352.80 becoming the school's first women's diving champion since 1988 when the Pirates were in the CAA. She also took second in the platform dive with a score of 256.35, establishing another school record.
The Pirates 400-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Carlie Clements, freshman Mikayla Durkin, sophomore Emilee Hamblin and sophomore Heidi Bruining finished fifth with a time of 3:22.79 earning 28 points. In the team diving event, ECU finished fifth with a score of 274.5 and earned and additional 30 points.
