Football Adds Brazell To Signing Class

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina Head Football Coach Mike Houston announced that Torin Brazell has signed a national letter-of-intent with the Pirates on Wednesday. This pushes the 2024 signing class to 21 members after inking 20 student-athletes back on Dec. 20 during the first National Signing Day period.

Verbally committed to East Carolina on Jan. 28, 2024 … High School: Four-year lettermen who helped Bradford Tornadoes to a 36-15 four-year record … Played two seasons under head coach Jamie Rodgers (2022-23) where they posted a 25-3 record including a perfect regular season during senior season … Played on both sides of the ball (defensive line, tight end) his last two seasons with the Tornadoes … Appeared in 46 games on defense where he tallied 254 stops (180 solo) … Recorded 71.0 career TFLs with 26.5 sacks as a three-time all-area selection … Credited with 10 pass breakups, caused 12 fumbles and picked off a pair of passes for scores against Eastside… Offensively, caught nine passes for 129 yards with a pair of touchdowns … As a senior, earned All-First Coast honors after recording 62 tackles (41 solo) with 31.0 TFLs and 17.0 sacks with three QBHs in 14 games … Helped team to the Florida HSCC Class 2S title game where the defensive unit recorded six shutouts and allowed three of 15 opponents to reach double-digits in scoring … Intercepted a pair of passes returning both for a touchdown … Tallied four pass breakups and caused four fumbles … Hauled down three passes for 59 yards (19.7 ypc) with one score … During junior campaign, booked a season-high 68 stops (40.0 solo) in 14 contests … Recorded 25.0 TFLs and 8.0 sacks on the way to the state semifinals … Member of a defensive unit that registered nine shutouts and allowed just three opponents to reach double figures in scoring during 14-game season … Caught six passes for 70 yards (11.7 ypc) with a touchdown … Appeared in nine games as a sophomore recording 60 tackles (39 solo) with 14 TFLs and 1.5 sacks … Added one pass break up and caused five fumbles earning all-area honors … Opened prep career with 64 stops (60 solo), 1.0 TFL, two pass breakups and a forced fumble … Member of the Tornadoes basketball team during sophomore year who won the Class 1A championship.
