GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina Men's Basketball has officially announced the signing of guard Jordan Riley on Thursday afternoon.
Â
The Brentwood, N.Y. native is the third player to join the Pirates this offseason from The Empire State. Riley arrives in Greenville after appearing in 33 games at Temple where he averaged 11.9 points and six rebounds per game, highlighted by a career-high 23 points at Tulane. He also recorded four double-doubles on the season including back-to-back double-doubles in the AAC Tournament and was a Big 5 Honorable Mention. Riley also excelled in the classroom, earning Academic All-District Honors from College Sports Communicators.Â
Â
"Jordan is one of the most explosive guards in college basketball," head coach Michael Schwartz said. "We saw it firsthand this season in American Conference play and inside Minges Coliseum. In addition to his basketball talent, he possesses a tireless work ethic both on the court and in the classroom."
Â
Prior to his time at Temple, Riley competed at Georgetown in his first two collegiate seasons including scoring 18 points as a sophomore on the road against Villanova.
Â
"Jordan impacts winning with his physical defense, rebounding from the guard spot and his ability to create his own scoring opportunities," Schwartz added. "His experience and competitive spirit will make an immediate impact. We are extremely excited about Jordan, his mother Karen and father Monty joining the ECU Basketball family".
Â
Riley played his high school ball at Brentwood (N.Y.) where he was tabbed First Team All-State and was named Mr. New York Basketball and Newsday Player of the Year after averaging 31.7 points, 6.5 assists and 5.5 steals in a pandemic-shortened season as a senior in 2020-21. As a junior, he averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds and four assists per game while leading his team to the Suffolk Class AA championship as a junior in 2019-20 to earn all-conference honors.
