McMillan Honorable Mention All-American at NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - East Carolina Track & Field's Sydni McMillan earned Honorable Mention All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships finishing 17th overall.
Competing at the Pirates' first ever representative in the 100m hurdles, McMillan ran a strong race, just missing her personal best - and program record - with a time of 13.03 seconds. Coming into the race seeded 22nd, McMillan acquited her self brilliantly, running her way into 17th overall in the competition.
The result earned McMillan Honorable Mention All-American honors for finishing 17th-24th in her event. She narrowly missed out on Second-Team All-American honors by just 0.008 seconds, showing the depth and quality of the overall field which saw 15 athletes break the 13-second barrier.
"Words cannot express how proud we are of Sydni," said Director of Track & Field Curt Kraft. "To perform on the biggest stage of track & field and accomplish what she has is remarkable. Probably the biggest thing we are the most proud of is how she represents this institution in a first class manner. Sydni McMillan is the epitome of how a student athlete represents a program. Everything that she has accomplished up to this point is the result of hard work, dedication, and believing in her faith. To finish up her outdoor career as an Honorable Mention All-American is a great way to go out."
McMillan, a senior by way of Pleasant Garden, N.C., entered the meet following an historic season which saw her break the program record on four occasions before winning the American Athletic Conference Championship in the event and advancing out of the NCAA East First Round meet by virtue of a time qualifier.
She sprinter was East Carolina's first NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifier since Sommer Knight took eighth in the pole vault in 2022.
