
Fiona Cunningham Named Volleyball Assistant Coach

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Fiona Cunningham has been tabbed an assistant coach for the East Carolina volleyball program in advance of the 2024 campaign according to an announcement by fifth-year head coach Adler Augustin.
Cunningham arrives in Greenville following one season as an assistant coach at North Carolina Central University.
In addition to her time in Durham, Cunningham served as the head volleyball coach at Cedar Ridge High School beginning in in 2019 and was named the NCHSAA 2021-22 NFHS (National Federation of State High School Association) State Coach of the Year after she led the Red Wolves to a 3A state volleyball championship title during a historic 31-win season. Cunningham won two conference championships at Cedar Ridge, also earning Central Carolina Conference Coach of the Year honors twice.
After playing collegiately and serving as a student assistant at UNC Asheville, Cunningham quickly gained a lot more volleyball coaching experience at the collegiate, high school and club levels. She has held various titles with several volleyball programs, including with Triangle Volleyball Club, Wofford College, Chapel Hill High School, East Coast Volleyball Academy, Union Middle School and Biltmore Volleyball Academy.
Cunningham graduated from UNC Asheville with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and wellness promotion in 2017.
The Pirates report for preseason camp Wednesday, Aug. 7, in preparation for its lone exhibition contest of the year Aug. 24 at Elon. ECU officially opens the season Aug. 30-31 when it takes on Queens University, UNCW and Loyola (Md.) in the Hampton Inn and Suites Seahawk Classic at Hanover Hall in Wilmington, N.C.
