Buchanan Named Conference Freshman of the Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina freshman outside hitter Sydney Buchanan has been named the American Conference Freshman of the Week following two highly competitive performances against conference opponents over the weekend.
Buchanan, a Frankfort, Illinois, native, was an offensive force for the Pirates as the team went 1-1 against Temple and Florida Atlantic. She led the team in total kills with 37, averaging four a set, while gaining 42 points in the last two games. She also ended the weekend with 17 digs, and three blocks.Â
On Sunday against FAU, Buchanan was able to have a career high, hitting 22 kills, while also achieving her first double-double of her career (22 kills, 10 digs).
