
Pirates Dropped by UCF, 75-61

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The East Carolina women's basketball team dropped a neutral site contest with UCF, 75-61, on Wednesday morning in the Coliseo Guillermo Angulo. The Pirates were led in scoring by Savannah Brooks' 14 points.

UCF (5-1) led the game for over 36 minutes after using a 13-0 run to end the first quarter to put a gap on the Pirates (2-4). The margin would get trimmed down to as few as five in the second quarter and four in the third quarter, but the Knights were able to push the lead back up each time.

Brooks made her first four shots of the game on her way to 10 first-half points. She also contributed five rebounds, two blocks and two steals in the game. Anzhané Hutton led the Pirates in rebounding for the sixth time this season with seven as Jayla Hearp joined Brooks in double-figure scoring with 11.

The Pirates were hampered greatly by a pair of scoring droughts in the second half of 4:25 and 4:00, respectively. The team did not make a field goal in the final 5:13 of the third quarter as UCF went on to lead by as many as 20 in the game.

The Knights were led in scoring by Khyala Ngodu's 20-point outing to lead three UCF players in double-figure scoring.
