
Davis Named East Carolina Offensive Coordinator

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Jordan Davis has been named East Carolina's offensive coordinator according to an announcement by head coach Blake Harrell on Thursday.

Davis's appointment to the Pirates staff ends a three-year stint at University of North Texas (UNT) where he served as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach helping the Mean Green to an 11-2 record in 2025 that included an appearance in the American Conference Championship Game and a matchup against San Diego State in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl.

In 2025, UNT led the nation in first down offense (first/334), scoring offense (first/44.8 ppg) and total offense (first/504.3 ypg), while also standing among NCAA FBS leaders (Top 25) eight other statistical categories: passing offense (second/323.2 pg), team passing efficiency (third/174.31), 4th down conversions (ninth/72.4 pct.), completion percentage (ninth/70.0 pct.), winning percentage (ninth/84.6), passing yards per completion (10th/14.1), red zone offense (14th/91.9 pct.) and 3rd down conversions (24th/46.4 pct.).

Under his tutelage, Wyatt Young caught 63 passes for 1,209 yards with 10 touchdowns ranking nationally in receptions yards (third) and receiving scores (11th). While quarterback Drew Mestemaker led the nation in passing yards (4,129), passing yards per game (317.6) and yards per pass attempt (9.93) and All-America running back Caleb Hawkins stood first in FBS in rushing scores (23), scoring (13.0 pg), total points scored (156) and total touchdowns (26).
In his second season (2024) at North Texas, Davis coordinated the stellar Mean Green offense. UNT finished the 2024Â season ranked third in FBS in total offense, fourth in passing offense and 23rd in scoring offense. UNT set a program record with 328.2 passing yards per game while the 488.8 total yards per game ranked third in program history and the 33.5 points per game ranked seventh.
Working directly with wide receivers, Davis had pair of players have over 750 receiving yards in the same season for the first time since 2018. He has had three separate players finish the season with over 750 receiving yards in his first two seasons in Denton.
Davis coordinated one of the top offenses in the American and the nation in 2023. Under his leadership, North Texas boasted one of only four offenses nationally during the regular season to include a 3,000-yard passer, a 1,000-yard rusher and a 1,000-yard receiver. UNT finished led the AAC and ranked No. 6 nationally in total offense (495.8), plus ranks of No. 12 in passing offense (304.7) and No. 21 in both rushing offense (191.2) and scoring (34.5).
A native of Arlington, Davis spent seven seasons coaching under Morris at Texas Tech, UIW and Washington State. He played a key role on the Incarnate Word staff as Assistant Head Coach and Wide Receivers coach and was an analyst at Wazzu in 2022.

Davis arrived in Pullman having spent the past the past four seasons at the University of Incarnate Word under Morris. He joined the Cardinals staff in 2018 as the wide receivers coach in 2018 and was promoted to assistant head coach and wide receivers coach in 2020.
During the 2021 season, Davis coached wide receiver Taylor Grimes, who earned multiple All-American honors in 2021 and was named Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year after setting single-season records for receiving yards (1,145) and touchdown receptions (15). The prior season Davis mentored all-conference receiver Robert Ferrell, who led the team in catches (35), yards (474) and six touchdowns, the latter setting a school record in just six games due to the shortened season.

In Davis' second season with UIW in 2019, the Cardinals won five games and broke numerous program records. Davis guided WR Kam Williams to four consecutive 100-yard receiving games, with a season-best 146 and three touchdowns on six catches against Texas Southern. His four-consecutive 100-yard games rank second in program history, while his three TD catches against TSU tied a program record for a single-game.

Davis was part of a staff that engineered the most successful year in program history, marked by a Southland Conference championship and a berth to the FCS Playoffs. UIW, who was 1-10 overall and 1-7 in SLC action in 2017, had one of the best turnarounds in program history with a 6-4 record (six wins ties the program record).

Davis helped guide UIW to multiple season records, including total offense (5,315), total points (357), and touchdowns (48).

Senior wide receivers Kody Edwards (932 yards) and Phillip Baptiste (905 yards, first team All-SLC) each set records on the outside in 2018. Baptiste broke single season program records in receptions (59), receiving touchdowns (9), and receptions per game (5.36), while Edwards set program bests with five 100-yard receiving outings and 1,389 all-purpose yards. Edwards also broke the program record for career receiving yards (2,353) and receptions (140), and he tied the program record for receiving touchdowns (14).

Prior to UIW, Davis was an offensive graduate assistant at Texas Tech University, where he worked closely with Morris, then the offensive coordinator for the Red Raiders, during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

In 2017, Davis helped guide TTU to a top-10 national ranking in passing offense. The Red Raiders also ranked 16th in passing offense, averaging 474.6 yards per game, including 333.7 yards through the air. Texas Tech played in the Birmingham Bowl to conclude the 2017 season.

Davis also helped the Red Raiders to a nation-leading 566.6 yards of total offense and 463 passing yards per game in 2016.

Prior to his time as a graduate assistant, Davis played for the Texas Tech for three years. He recorded 43 receptions for 398 yards and two touchdowns for the Red Raiders. In 2011, Davis played for Southwestern Oklahoma State, where he appeared in 11 games and made 20 receptions for 225 yards with a team-leading three touchdowns.

Davis graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor's degree in university studies in 2014 and a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2017.
