Zach Agnos Makes MLB Debut With Colorado Rockies

DENVER, Colo. – Former East Carolina All-American and current member of the Colorado Rockies organization Zach Agnos made his Major League Baseball debut Sunday evening, pitching a scoreless eighth inning in Colorado's 3-1 victory over the Washington Nationals at Coors Field.

He is the first Pirate to earn the call to the Majors since Connor Norby debuted with the Baltimore Orioles back on June 3, 2024.

Before his promotion to the big leagues, Agnos plied his trade with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate Albuquerque Isotopes and compiled a 2.25 earned run average and two saves with 10 strikeouts in 8.0 innings of work. Over four seasons in the minors, Colorado's No. 26 prospect logged a 13-6 record, 1.82 ERA, 142 strikeouts and an astounding 46 saves.

Agnos was one of the Rockies' non-roster invitees to spring training this season. He was selected by Colorado with the 296th pick (10th round) of the 2022 MLB First Year Player Draft.

A two-way star at East Carolina from 2020-22, Agnos earned a pair of All-America Second Team citations by Baseball America and D1Baseball in 2022 and was a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American in 2021. He garnered several accolades during the 2022 season that saw the Pirates rattle off a school record 20-game winning streak that resulted in the American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles, an NCAA Greenville Regional championship and an on-campus Super Regional versus Texas at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

Agnos finished his ECU career with a .296 batting average, 101 runs scored, 32 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs and 94 RBI as well as a 3.90 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched.
