Four Pirates Score on Day Two of American Outdoor Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Four Pirates scored points and two more advanced to Saturday finals for the East Carolina track & field team at the second day of the American Athletic Conference Championships on Friday at Charlotte's Irwin Belk Track & Field Center.

Skyler Harrelson began the day for the Pirates in the women's long jump, leaping to an outdoor personal best of 5.92m (19-5.75) to earn a couple of points in seventh place overall.

On the men's side, Jared Harrell got on the scoreboard again with his fifth-place finish in the long jump with a best mark of 7.25m (23-9.5).

In the men's shot put, Shakiel Dacres and Brandon Gayle both reached the final with Dacres tossing a personal best of 16.84m (55-3) to score points for the Pirates in fifth place overall. The mark moves Dacres up to sixth in program history in the event.

On the track, Aaliyah Brown-Muhammad and Emma Hall kicked off the day with time qualifiers and a pair of PRs in the 100m hurdles as Brown-Muhammad matched her career mark of 13.43 seconds and Hall set a new mark of 13.53 seconds to advance to Saturday's final. Hall will also be competing in the 400m hurdles final.

In the women's 100m, it was the Kelly Ufodiama show again as the rookie advanced to Saturday's final with the top qualifying time of 11.38 seconds. She will be competing in both the 100m and 200m finals on Saturday.
