
Pirates Garner ITA All-Academic Team Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – For the 12th time in the last 14 years and for the fourth straight season, East Carolina has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I All-Academic Team according to an announcement by the organization on Monday.
The Pirates posted an annual 3.82 GPA while eight players had an annual GPA of 3.5 or better for the 2024-25 academic season.
Kim Auerswald, Ines Bachir, Anne Lou Champion, Joan Madi, Brooke LaFrenz, Isabella Rivera Ortiz, Martina Muzzolon and Lily Lancaster all earned ITA Scholar Athlete honors. Champion and Muzzolon were tabbed for the fourth-straight year while Madi, Bachir, LaFrenz and Auerswald received the honors for the second consecutive season.
In 2025, 1,462 Division I women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 222 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letterwinners are factored into the cumulative team GPA from the 2024-25 academic year. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must have a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the current academic year.
