
Pirates Set To Face UAB In Minges On Sunday

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina returns home to the friendly confines of Minges Coliseum in hopes of snapping a three-game skid on Sunday afternoon when the Pirates face UAB.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+ with Patrick Johnson (play-by-play) and Jay Sonnhalter (analyst) on the call and Matison Little reporting from the baseline. Pirate fans can also tune in to 107.9 WNCT FM, 94.3 The Game or download the IBX app to hear Daron Vaught call the action.
Jordan Riley continues to lead the Pirates on both ends of the floor with 21.4 points per game (1st in American) and two steals per contest (3rd in American) while Giovanni Emejuru anchors the interior with 14.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game (2nd in American). Riley and Emejuru have combined to score 51 percent of ECU's points and have attempted 59 percent of ECU's 349 free throws this season.
Before the Pirates take on the Blazers, fans are invited to celebrate the Pirates' Military Bowl win on Sunday, January 11 prior to the men's basketball game against UAB in Minges Coliseum. Fans will be able to view and take photos with the Military Bowl trophy, which was awarded on the field in Annapolis. The trophy will be on display in the Williams Hall of Fame inside Minges Coliseum beginning when gates open at 12:30 p.m. The ECU football team will also be recognized on the court during the first half of the men's basketball game.

UAB enters Sunday's matchup coming off a 76-71 loss to Florida Atlantic at home. The Blazers have five players that average 10 or more points per game, led by Chance Westry's 15.8 ppg. Jacob Meyer (13.3 ppg), Ahmad Robinson (12 ppg), Daniel Rivera (11.6 ppg) and KyeRon Lindsay-Martin (10.4 ppg) round out UAB's top scorers. UAB is the only team in the American that is in the top five in the league in field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense at 45.3 percent and 41.8 percent respectively.

UAB leads the all-time series with East Carolina 14-7 as the teams split the two meetings last season with the Pirates taking the regular season meeting at home, 82-75, and the Blazers ending ECU's season in the conference tournament, 94-77. ECU has won six of the last nine meetings against UAB and is 2-6 all-time against UAB in Minges but the Pirates have won the last two games at home against the Blazers.
