
ECU’s Anthony Smith Named To Associated Press All-Bowl Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina wide receiver Anthony Smith has been named to the Associated Press All-Bowl Team the media organization announced Monday afternoon. With Smith's selection, it marks the second-straight year a member of the Pirate Football program has been recognized following Rahjai Harris in 2024.
Smith, who closed out his collegiate career following ECU's 23-17 win over Pittsburgh in the Go Bowling Military Bowl, led the team with 64 receptions for 1,053 yards and seven receiving scores. Against the Panthers, he caught four passes for a Military Bowl record 156 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
Smith's first two receptions came in the opening quarter with grabs of 28 and nine yards, both resulting in Pirate first downs. On ECU's opening possession of the second half, Chaston Ditta connected with Smith on a 47-yard touchdown strike giving the Pirates a 10-7 lead.
The following drive, with ECU trailing 14-10, Ditta hit Smith on a short route across the middle where the Go Bowling Military Bowl Most Valuable Player sprinted 72 yards pulling the Pirates ahead (17-14) in the third quarter.
A year ago, Harris earned Go Bowling Military Bowl MVP honors rushing for a bowl record 220 yards on 17 carried (12.9 ypc) with one touchdown. With 1:47 left to go against NC State, Harris took a 3rd-and-10 handoff down the left side of the field for and 86-yard score giving ECU a 26-21 lead and ultimately the 11th bowl victory in program history.
