Pate Named American Conference Offensive Player of the Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina volleyball's Ellie Pate was named American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon, for her efforts in two league matches against Charlotte and Florida Atlantic.

This is the Auburn native's first Player of the Week honor this season, though she has earned three Conference Honorable Mention nods this year (Aug. 31, Sept. 7, Sept. 28). Taryn Gilreath was the first Pirate to earn Player of the Week honors this year (Setter of the Week, Sept. 28).

Pate led the Pirates in their win against Charlotte on October 7, with 16 kills in three sets and a .371 hitting percentage. She also totaled four blocks and nine digs, finishing with 18.5 points for the Pirates.

Despite losing their first conference game against Florida Atlantic on October 11, Pate again dominated for the Pirates. Recording her 10th career double-double with 21 kills and 11 digs, Pate hit .273, added a service ace, and scored 22.0 points in five sets.

Pate has recorded double-digit points in 16 matches and double-digit kills in 14 matches for the Pirates. She currently ranks second in the conference in kills with 248 (3.42 per set) and second in points with 274.5 (4.22 per set).

The Pirates return to action on October 16, when they face the UAB Blazers in Birmingham at 7:30 p.m. ET.
