Pirates Wrap Up Second Weekend Of Fall Play At Elon On Saturday

Elon, N.C. – The East Carolina women's tennis concluded its second weekend of fall competition on Saturday at the Jimmy Powell Invitational at Elon.

The Pirates competed against Elon, James Madison, Davidson and VCU in the hidden dual tournament with the tournament's winner determined based on a points system.

"Even though I was happy with our opening event last week, I feel like we made some improvements this weekend," head coach Kristin Burgess said. "Our doubles took some great strides and our team continued to make every match they played competitive. We were definitely tired at the end of the event so that is something we will continue to work on in the next few weeks."

ECU fared the best against Davidson, posting a 6-1 mark against the Wildcats in the first round of singles. Individually, Reese Calvo, Xenia Jeromin and Zelie Bretin each picked up a pair of singles wins while the duo of Calvo and Kim Auerswald tallied three wins to earn 12 points and be named doubles winners of the tournament.
