Atlanta, Ga. – The East Carolina swim and dive team wrapped up competition in a tri-meet at Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon at McAuley Aquatic Center.
The Pirates defeated Boston College 199.5-100.5 but fell to Georgia Tech 138.5-160.5. Carlie Clements, Payton Scott, Mikayla Durkin and Sophie Hay won events on the day for East Carolina as Clements won the 100 backstroke (53.57) and 200 backstroke (1:56.94). Clements' time in the 100 backstroke stands as the fastest in the conference currently.
"Strong showing for the Pirates," head coach Matthew Jabs said. "We swam and dove very well today, across the entire team. Appreciate every opportunity to compete against the ACC. Carlie Clements was excellent today, dominating her events. She's establishing herself as one of the best in our conference whenever she hits the pool. On the diving side Cecilia Bragantini is one of our younger athletes on the cusp of being a major factor as well."
Scott finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.91) while Durkin won the 50 free (23.30) and Hay placed first in the 500 free (4:58.21). On the boards, Bragantini finished second in the 3-meter (260.05) and third in the 1-meter (274.00).
