IRVING, Texas - East Carolina women's basketball's Kennedy Fauntleroy has earned American Conference Player of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.
Fauntleroy, a senior from Upper Marlboro, Md., earns the recognition after a week in which she averaged 21.0 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 rebounds per game in a pair of road wins over Tulane and Temple.Â
First, Fauntleroy put up a 23-point, four-assist, three-steal effort at Tulane as she led the Pirates to their first win over the Green Wave in New Orleans in 11 years. She followed that up with a 19-point outing at Temple, helping ECU to a program-record sixth—and sixth-consecutive—road conference win.
This week's accolade is the second Player of the Week nod for Fauntleroy this season, previously earning the weekly honor on Jan. 19. She has also been named to the weekly Honorable Mention list twice.
On the season, Fauntleroy is leading ECU with 13.7 points. 4.5 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game, while increasing her points and assists numbers to 15.6 and 5.7, respectively in conference play as she continues to state her case for American Player of the Year honors.
Fauntleroy and the Pirates return to action, and return home as they welcome Florida Atlantic to Minges Coliseum on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
