McNeill Partners with American Diabetes Association During Diabetes Alert Day
March 25, 2026 | Women's Basketball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina women's basketball Head Coach Kim McNeill has partnered with the American Diabetes Association as a 2026 All Star Ambassador for Diabetes Alert Day this March.

Organization Release
March is a defining month for basketball fans across the country - and for the American Diabetes Association® (ADA), it is a powerful opportunity to raise awareness about diabetes, one of the fastest growing chronic diseases in the world. Nearly one in two Americans has diabetes or prediabetes, underscoring the urgent need for early detection and prevention.
As the excitement for the NCAA tournament builds, the ADA is activating its roster of ADA All Star Ambassadors - a team of basketball coaches, current NCAA athletes, and former collegiate standouts - who are sharing their personal connections to diabetes and encouraging fans to take action ahead of Diabetes Alert Day on March 24.
"It takes a team effort for people living with diabetes to lead healthy lives and thrive. My time as a college athlete taught me that defense and teamwork win games. Together, the ADA and our growing roster of athlete Ambassadors are raising awareness of this disease and leading a full court press to end it," said Charles "Chuck" Henderson, ADA chief executive officer.

Diabetes Alert Day: A National Call to Know Your Risk
Diabetes Alert Day, observed annually on the fourth Tuesday in March, is a one‑day wake‑up call that highlights the importance of early detection. With millions of Americans unaware they are living with diabetes, the ADA urges people to know the symptoms and understand their risk of developing diabetes at diabetes.org/alertday.
These Ambassadors will share their personal stories throughout March via social media, encouraging fans to take the ADA's free 60 second Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test, understand their risk of developing type 1 diabetes, get informed to protect their health, and support ADA by getting involved.
Throughout March, the ADA will share inspiring stories, engagement opportunities, and ways for the public to take action - including a 3X donation match on March 24 up to $50K campaign total.
