Fauntleroy Nabs Final Player of the Week Honor
March 08, 2026 | Women's Basketball
IRVING, Texas - East Carolina women's basketball senior guard Kennedy Fauntleroy made one final addition to her case for postseason honors, earning her third American Conference Player of the Week recognition, the league announced Sunday. Fauntleroy had previously been named Player of the Week on Jan. 19 and Feb. 16.
Though the Pirates only played once on the week, Fauntleroy made the most of it, leading the way as she poured in 17 points to go with eight assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals in a 76-61 road win over Tulsa. The performance was nothing out of the ordinary for the Upper Marlboro, Md. native who has absolutely starred this season. It was her 13th game of 15-or-more points and her sixth game of eight-or-more assists.
She's up to 84 steals this season, ninth in program history. On Saturday she became just the third ECU player to ever record a 400-point, 150-assist season, joining Sam Jones and Jamsine Young. Young did so twice. Oh, and she blocked a shot, something that's also become customary for her as she leads the team with 24 rejections on the season.
In this effort, she helped the team to a program record-tying 22nd overall regular season win and helped to extend what was already a program record for conference wins to 14. The Pirates have secured the two seed in the American, and carrying an overall record of 22-9 and a league mark of 14-4, the team is set for the American Conference Tournament this upcoming week at Legacy Arena At The BJCC in Birmingham, Ala. The team has earned a bye into the semifinal round where they are scheduled for a 9 p.m. ET contest on Friday, March 13, opponent as yet to be determined.
