Herring Named ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Atlantic Region
June 09, 2026 | Baseball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings unveiled the 2026 NCAA Division I All-Region Teams on Tuesday, recognizing the nation's top performers across each region. Selected by the ABCA Division I All-America and Coach of the Year Committee, East Carolina senior Jack Herring earned Second Team All-Atlantic Region honors following an outstanding season for the Pirates.
Herring, the Pirates' everyday right fielder and one of the team's veteran leaders, paced East Carolina's offense throughout the 2026 campaign while serving as a key presence both on and off the field.
The senior led the Pirates in several major offensive categories, including slugging percentage (.565), OPS (1.050), RBI (51) and doubles (17). His disciplined approach at the plate also helped him lead the American Conference and rank 13th nationally with 54 walks during the season.
Starting in 60 games, Herring compiled a .344 batting average while collecting 72 hits and scoring 57 runs. He added 17 doubles, one triple and nine home runs, while his 54 walks and four hit-by-pitches contributed to an impressive .485 on-base percentage.
Beginning late in the 2025 season, Herring quietly put together one of the most remarkable streaks in program history. He reached base safely in 66 consecutive games, setting a new East Carolina record and surpassing the previous mark of 58 games established by Connor Norby in 2022. The streak made Herring the first Pirate to eclipse the 60-game plateau and highlighted the consistency he displayed throughout his career.
In just two seasons at East Carolina, Herring cemented his place in the program's record book. His 54 walks in 2026 rank second-most in a single season in school history and are the highest total by a Pirate during head coach Cliff Godwin's tenure.Â
Herring's standout season earned him numerous accolades, including American Conference Player of the Week honors on April 27, a selection to the American All-Conference Second Team and a spot on the American Conference Championship All-Tournament Team. In the classroom, he was recognized on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team and remains under consideration for CSC Academic All-America honors.
First Team All-Region selections are eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-America teams will be announced on Friday, June 12, prior to the start of the NCAA Division I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
