ECU Set To Participate In American Kickoff Event

IRVING, Texas – East Carolina Head Football Coach Blake Harrell along with defensive lineman Jasiyah Robinson and wide receiver Brock Spalding are set to participate in the 2026 American Kickoff, which will be held Thursday-Friday, July 23-24, at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayftont. Additional guest appearances for the two-day event are PeeDee and Pirate cheerleaders.
Media sessions are expected to begin at 11 a.m. (ET) on Thursday and will continue through Friday morning with press conferences of all 14 head coaches. Commissioner Tim Pernetti will get things started with his remarks at 8:05 a.m. (ET) on Friday. Harrell is scheduled to appear at the podium around 8:40 a.m. (ET) with live coverage on ESPN+ of all press conferences.
The trio of Maria Trivelpiece, Rene Ingoglia and Leger Douzable will interview coaches and student-athletes from each member institution with the Pirates schedule to appear on ESPN+ live stream at 9 a.m. (ET). ECU's football X (@ECUPiratesFB) and Instagram (ECUPiratesFB) accounts will be uploading images throughout the event fo the fans.
ECU will open the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 when it travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on Alabama at Saban Field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 12 noon (ET) and will be televised on ABC. The Pirates home opener is scheduled for Sept. 12 against App State with a 12 noon (ET) kickoff on ESPNU. The contest has been designated as Pirate Club Weekend sponsored by ECU Health.
Season ticket orders are currently on sale, with packages starting at just $75 for the six-game home slate at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium this fall.
