ECU Concludes Fall Camp With Scrimmage & Media Day
August 22, 2026 | Football
GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina closed out fall camp conducting its second scrimmage before participating in the Pirates Annual Media Day event. The controlled practice inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium lasted nearly two hours under partly cloudy skies with temperatures beginning in the upper 70's before the clouds broke and temps peaked towards mid-80s.
Â
Second-year head coach Blake Harrell and his staff directed the team through an up-tempo scrimmage where they worked on all three phases of the game with all three levels of offense, defense and special teams. The day began with breakfast and a walk-through before returning the field for the scrimmage.
Â
Some key moments were 40-plus yards touchdown reception by Dawson Quarterman and a seven-yard touchdown run by Cole Hodge, with Andrew Conrad and Noah Perez successfully connecting on the PATs. Jeremiah Melvin had a 40-plus yard grab, while the running back corps where able to sustain several drives on short yardage.
Â
Defensively, Rion Roseborough and Julien Davis had tackles behind the line of scrimmage, while Angelo Ross, Ashton Levells-Mitchell and Djimon McLendon had key pass breakups. Ross also picked off a pass to thwart an offensive drive. Â
Â
Following the scrimmage, Coach Harrell, all his assistant coaches and approximately 20 players spoke to members of the media inside TowneBank Tower. The event lasted nearly two hours and was attended by 30-plus members of the media. ECU will take Sunday off before turning their focus to the season opener, which will be Saturday, Sept 5 when it travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on Alabama at Saban Field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 12 noon (ET) and will be televised on ABC.
