ECU Opens Regular Season At All-North Carolina Invitational
Pirates among 13 schools from the Old North State competing in Greensboro
Since joining the staff at ECU, Jabs has worked his way up the coaching ladder. Jabs began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant in 2000 and then served as a graduate assistant for the next two seasons, while pursuing a master's degree. After completing his postgraduate work, Jabs served as a part-time assistant coach during the 2003-04 season, while also working as an assistant coach with the Greenville Swim Club. Following his first season as a full-time assistant in 2005, Jabs was promoted to head assistant coach.
As an athlete at ECU, Jabs accumulated a number of notable accomplishments. He was a four-year letterman who was named team captain his senior year, CAA Championship Finalist, earned ECU's Most Outstanding Swimmer twice (1999, 2000), and was ranked among the all-time top 10 in the 50, 100, and 200-yard freestyle races at the end of his swimming career. His most notable accomplishment came in his final meet as a Pirate when he posted the then-fastest 100-yard freestyle time in school history.
Jabs graduated from ECU in 2001 with a degree in exercise and sports science with a minor in recreation and leisure studies, and earned his master's in athletic and physical education administration two years later.
A native of Vernon, Conn., Jabs resides in Winterville with his wife Jaclyn and their two sons, Evan (7) and Jackson (3).
