Since its origin in 1970 as an eight-member "pom-pom" dance team known as the Pirateers, the ECU Dance Team has energized and inspirited generations of fans with its precision and entertaining choreography during home football and basketball games. The ECU Dance Team, which evolved from the Pure Gold Dancers (1984-2005) and Pirateers, also has served as ambassadors for the Athletics Department since its inception.
