[quote]We are excited to have Jesse join out staff,[quote] said Godwin. [quote]He comes from a great baseball background having played for his father Carl (Mount Olive[apos]s Coach) for four years. He is mature beyond his years and his playing experience along with his knowledge brings a great deal of experience to East Carolina.[quote]
A preseason All-America selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) as a senior, Lancaster batted .358 (72-for-201) with five home runs, 46 RBI and 64 runs scored helping Mount Olive to a 41-11 overall record and its fourth Conference Carolina[apos]s crown in the last five seasons and was named the league[apos]s Most Valuable Player and 2010 America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) all-region performer.
In his junior season, the Goldsboro, N.C. native picked up his second all-conference honor after batting .358 (67-for-187) with five home runs, 14 doubles, 56 runs scored and 29 RBI during the Trojans 33-18 season. Lancaster ranked third in the conference in stolen bases (24-for-27) and ninth in runs scored.
During the Trojans national championship season, Lancaster took home all-conference accolades and in the title game was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. He also sparked Mount Olive[apos]s defense in the National Finals, making a long running catch in the opposing bullpen for the final out of the eighth inning with the tying run on base in Mount Olive[apos]s (58-6) semifinal win over Central Missouri.
Lancaster, the 2006 Conference Carolina Freshman-of-the-Year, helped his dad (Carl) record his 600th career win after tossing his first collegiate complete game against Erskine and four years later he was part of the senior Lancaster[apos]s 800th win, also against Erskine.
In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Lancaster has also excelled in the classroom. He is a three-time CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection, garnering first team honors in 2009 and 2010, while taking home second-team honors in 2008. Lancaster was also named a three-time Conference Carolinas All-Academic Team member.
