After 21 years of exceptional and award-winning service as director of athletic grounds, Joey Perry was promoted to the role of director of internal operations and facilities at East Carolina University in August of 2021.Â

In addition to maintaining oversight of the treatment and condition for grass and turf playing surfaces in numerous Pirate athletics venues, including Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and Clark-LeClair Stadium, Perry provides leadership to all facility operational facets ensuring it meets competition standards and protocol per the NCAA and American Athletic Conference. His expertise and creativity has transformed Bagwell Field and Lewis Field into one of the most desirable natural playing surfaces in college football and baseball on a national level, both from a performance and aesthetic standpoint.

A Spring Hope, N.C., native, Perry earned a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation and tourism at North Carolina State University in 1999. He is a member of the Sports Turf Managers Association and the Eastern Turf Grass Association.

Perry and his wife Lori were married in August of 1998 and the couple has two children - Hunter and Rachel.
