Zac Womack begins his 15th year as a memÂber of the East Carolina Athletic Training staff dealing priÂmarily with the baseball team, a position he acÂcepted in January of 2008. In the fall of 2012, Womack was promoted to head athletic trainer status at ECU,

A native of Jamestown, N.C., Womack returned to ECU after spending seven years in the New York Yankees minor league organization. While in the Yankees farm system, he spent time with the Gulf Coast Yankees (2001), Greensboro Bats (2002), Battle Creek Yankees (2003-04) and the Trenton Thunder (2005-07).

Womack worked alongside some of the organizations top prospects as well as several Major League rehabilitation assignÂments in Trenton with Roger Clemens, Robinson Cano, Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield. He also worked with the New York Yankees Major League team during five-straight spring trainings. Â

His main area of focus with the baseball team is on minimizing shoulder and elbow injuries, and implementing several programs designed to condition the throwing shoulder and elbow for the stresses that they endure at the collegiate level. Together with this philosophy, in the event that injuries occur, Womack utilizes the latest rehab protocols with the intent of returning athletes to the field with the highest level of success and effectiveness. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and is licensed as an athletic trainer by the state of North Carolina.

Womack earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from ECU in 2000 where he worked with both the baseball and football programs. He is married to the former Kimberly Mills of Greenville, N.C. and currently resides in Greenville, N.C. with their daughter Ivy Grace.
