While officially listed on the preseason depth chart as one of the candidates to serve as the top backup behind Rob Kass, coaches haven[apos]t completely ruled out continued competition for the starter[apos]s job when camp opens ... Turned in another strong spring performance, finishing drills locked in a battle with Patrick Pinkney for the No. 2 position ... Rushed for 20 yards on just four carries and completed four-of-10 passes for 19 yards in the first spring scrimmage (3/23) before leading all signal-callers with a 140-yard passing (nine-of-14) performance during the second contest (3/30) ... Hooked up with Jamar Bryant on a 45-yard TD strike to open the scrimmage ... Completed seven-of-15 passes for a team-high 79 yards (long of 31 to Dwayne Harris) during the [apos]07 Purple-Gold Game ...
