- In 2016, was credited with playing an instrument role in JMU’s defensive turnaround as the Dukes stood eighth nationally in turnover margin (+1/13) and 17th in scoring defense (21.2) while trimming off nearly 60 yards per game (from 2015) …
- Also developed a pair of All-CAA defenders while on the JMU staff in 2013 …

- Graduated from Richmond with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in education after lettering as a linebacker (was part of the Spiders’ 1968 Tangerine Bowl championship team) … .
- Remained at UR after his playing days, serving as graduate assistant coaching the freshmen defensive linemen from 1971-73 while completing his degree programs …
- The Beloit, Wis., native is married (DeDe) and the couple has three daughters - Laurie, Kristin and Katie.
