Nina Baloun is in her third season as ECU’s director of football operations, a position she accepted on Jan. 14, 2019.
Baloun previously served as director of football internal operations at fellow American Athletic Conference member Houston in 2017 and 2018 following a four-year stint in the Big Ten Conference at Illinois.
In addition to her role as the chief liaison officer between the football program and the athletics department’s academic, compliance, financial aid and nutrition staffs at UH, Baloun managed scholarships, stipends and housing arrangements for the Cougars’ student-athletes. She also coordinated team travel, had oversight of summer camps and assisted with budget matters and campus events.
She was initially appointed as Houston’s director of on-campus recruiting in March, 2017 before accepting the operations post later that summer. In her first role, Baloun handled the coordination and implementation of all recruiting operations and logistics, which included the organization of official and unofficial prospect visits.
Prior to her arrival at UH, Baloun was assistant football recruiting coordinator and supervisor for the I-Star recruiting program at Illinois from 2013 to 2017. Included among her many duties with the Fighting Illini were social media management, Pro Day logistics, NCAA rules training for staff and coaches, recruiting software analysis, budget management, cultivation of student assistant ambassadors and summer camps.
Baloun spent five years as a football recruiting assistant and community relations liaison at alma mater Toledo. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2008 before earning separate master’s degrees in criminal justice (2009) and counseling (2011).
