A charismatic and engaging performer who is expected to fully bounce back after being sidelined the entire 2016 season because of a back ailment … A big-play receiver who made an immediate splash as true freshman in 2013, but dazzling career has been interrupted twice by a pair of injuries … Appears to have regained full health with a strong spring showing and a preseason designation as the Pirates’ starting “Z” receiver in 2017 … Was medically cleared during the winter and opened scrimmage action with a pair of catches for 43 yards (April 1) … Snared five passes for 53 yards during the Purple-Gold Game on April 22 … In all, has opened 28 of 31 career games with 76 catches for 881 yards (11.6 ypr) and seven touchdowns … Netted multiple receptions in 23 contests … Thirty-two (32) of 76 grabs have gone for 12 or more yards (11 for 20-plus, five for 30-plus, one for 40-plus, one for 50-plus and one for 60-plus).
2016: Turned in unconventional redshirt season when back injury didn’t respond to rehabilitation efforts … Continued conditioning regime throughout the fall, but was limited in contact work … Participated in spring drills (four receptions for 85 yards in Purple-Gold Game), but was effectively shut down for the remainder of the year during preseason camp.
2015: Opened all 12 games at one of the outside receiving positions … Stood fourth on unit with 33 receptions for 448 yards and three touchdowns, yet topped all pass catchers with a 13.6 yards-per-catch average … Seventeen (17) grabs went for 10 or more yards and five exceeded 20 yards … Caught at least one pass on 11 occasions and produced multiple reception totals 10 times … Surpassed the 30-yard mark in seven contests and eclipsed the 50-yard milestone in five outings, which included a career-best 99 at UCF during the road finale … Also hauled in a career-long 69-yarder against the Knights – ECU’s longest play from scrimmage all year … Scored all three TDs (Florida/31-yarder, SMU/10, Cincinnati/10) in the first quarter … Contributed a season-high five catches at BYU (53 yards) and had three four-reception efforts (56 yards vs. Florida, 84 vs. Tulsa and 99 vs. UCF) … Was on receiving end of a 34-yarder from fellow pass-catcher Zay Jones against Golden Hurricane, which at the time ranked as the longest successful toss of the season … Netted three grabs each against Towson (31 yards), Virginia Tech (53), Cincinnati (33) and a pair of catches vs. SMU (10), Temple (16), USF (six) … Limited to just one reception at Connecticut (seven yards) and zero catches at Navy … Enjoyed five-game mid-season (Sept. 26 to Oct. 22) surge that produced 16 receptions for 216 yards – an average of 3.2 catches for 43.2 yards per game (2.4/33.1 averages the other seven contests).
2014: Quickly removed all rust from an 11-month layoff by catching four passes for 26 yards against N.C. Central in the season opener … Overall, started 10 of 13 games and recorded 25 receptions for 257 yards (10.3 ypr) ... In addition to effort vs. the Eagles, matched season-high with four grabs on two other occasions – vs. Cincinnati and UCF ... Top yardage accumulation came against the Knights (68) during regular season finale at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium ... Recorded at least one catch in 10 games ... Enjoyed strong finish, making 14 of 25 receptions in the last five games for 176 yards (12.6 ypr) ... Ten catches totaled 10 or more yards (four for 20-plus) ... 2013: Recorded 18 catches for 176 yards (9.8 ypr) and four touchdowns in six games (and starts) during true rookie campaign … Suffered a season-ending left knee injury at Tulane on Oct. 12 … Posted multi-catch totals in first five games, while posting season-bests in receptions (seven) and reception yards (66) during a pivotal Conference USA road win at Middle Tennessee a week prior to the injury … Opened collegiate career with three TD catches vs. Old Dominion (nine, six and one-yarders) … In all, had four catches for 28 yards against Monarchs … Followed up with a two-reception, 29-yard effort against Florida Atlantic … Also hauled in an 18-yard scoring strike from Shane Carden vs. the Owls to give ECU a 7-0 lead after its first possession … Had two receptions for six yards the next week against Virginia Tech before adding three grabs for 47 yards vs. North Carolina at Kenan Stadium … A 37-yarder vs. the Tar Heels in second quarter action marked a season-long and was one of five catches that exceeded 10 yards (also had a 32-yarder at MTSU) … Selected to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Freshman Performers Watch List ... High School: A First-Team All-Southeastern District selection at both wide receiver and defensive back for coach Joe Jones at Kings Fork High School ... Also named to the Virginian-Pilot's All-Tidewater First-Team Defense unit as a senior after helping the Bulldogs to a program-record seven wins (7-4) and the school's first-ever appearance in the Virginia High School League Division 5 Football playoffs (before suffering a 16-15 setback to Lakeland in the opening round) ... Had 45 receptions for 602 yards and seven touchdowns ... On defense, picked off three passes, had eight breakups and recovered three fumbles ...
