Derek DeMasi is in his second season as a member of the ECU basketball staff and first as director of player development after initially joining the program as assistant director of basketball operations.

DeMasi, who was a part of Joe Dooleyās staff Florida Gulf Coast as assistant video coordinator, serves as the liaison between the student-athletes and the financial aid office and the admissions office, while assisting with travel, on-campus recruiting, social media and game day operations.

As member of the coaching staff at FGCU, DeMasi helped coordinate all video operations, develop the team playbook and organize detailed scouting reports as the Eagles won the Atlantic Sun regular season title and posted a 23-12 overall record.

Prior to joining the staff at FGCU, DeMasi served two seasons as assistant coach at St. Andrews School in Barrington, R.I. During his two years at St. Andrews DeMasi helped the squad record back-to-back 20-win seasons, reaching the NEPSAC AA Tournament semifinals each year, and seven student-athletes earn Division I scholarships.

DeMasi began his basketball coaching journey with a four-year stint as an assistant coach at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.
DeMasi received his Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Rhode Island in May, 2011. A four-time Deanās List student, DeMasi was the head student manager for the Rams ābaseball team from December 2009-June 2011. During that time, he was responsible for the breakdown and compilation of statistical data and video editing while assisting with the coordination of team travel and the development and production of yearly fundraisers. DeMasi also managed numerous events, including the annual golf tournament and Autism Awareness Day and organized recruiting information.
A four-year football operations summer intern with the New England Patriots, DeMasi spent the entire 2010 season with the organization and helped with both the logistical coordination of the teamās football operations and the day-to-day logistical needs of players and staff. Additionally, DeMasi was accountable for the organization and production of player/coach game plan books and playbooks. He also assisted with media resource projects, the research of player information, and the transportation of players and personnel.
